Ran across this place on a Day Trip Search and Soo glad I did. Amazing history and and a quality little town. Everyone we came across was pleasant, informative and genuinely good folks. We will be going back for the festivities and continuing to explore the history, and there is a lot of it. Definitely recommend for anyone that loves history and good conversation with local folks

This is a small historic village. There are no guided tours. You walk around at your own pace. You can purchase map/book for $4 that tells you about the village from the General Store or read about it online. Most of the buildings are closed like the surveyors shop and post office. Some buildings have small artisan shops like the potter and bakery. You can grab a bite to eat at Mama T's. Some stores are only open certain days and times. My first visit months ago only Mama T's and General Store were open. There is also a small non strenuous hiking trail behind the post office that takes you to the Powderhouse. Follow the signs and stay on the trail as it's surrounded by private property. Everyone I met was very friendly. They have a bluegrass singing in the park on Friday nights. Bring your own lawn chair.

Gold Hill is a wonderful little historic town. The people who live there treat you like family. Every Friday night they play bluegrass in the general store and at the old gas station. There are local craft stores and beautiful historic homes. There's also a museum of the old gold mine and walking trails. It's well worth a visit.

Not much to see our do here (our visit was mid day Tuesday). There is what appears to be old stones used as part of the mining, but there were not much in the way of informational signs. You can walk down some stairs and look into the entry of a mine, but there isn't much to see in the dark. If you walk across the road there is a few buildings and behind that a fenced in area that was a shaft at one point but now just looks like a whole with water. Still, a good place to stretch your legs a little if you are traveling with a small playground for children.
